No matter who you are or what your background is, God has given you something to be passionate about, whether it’s sports, books, or a heart that’s wholly devoted to spreading the Good News. Following your passion will help you discover and fulfil your purpose, and will bring you good success. Sadly, very few people follow their passion in life.

The dictionary defines passion as strong and barely controllable emotion, and each and every one of us is blessed with it. The life of Jesus is an excellent example of a life of passion for He loves us so much that He willingly gave Himself up as the perfect sacrifice for our

salvation.

Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” – Romans 12:11 (AMPC)

Proverbs 4:12

When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.

Benefits of living passionately

God is not pleased when our lives are a cycle of monotonous and unexciting routines. Rather, as Paul reveals in Romans 11:12, He wants us continuously ablaze with zeal, both spiritually in serving Him and physically as we accomplish our purpose on earth. Why? Because a life of passion is a life of true value.

When you love what you do, you wouldn’t see your hard work as stressful but as a labour of love. Your passion will fuel and energize you to get up each morning and go, even if your body is weak, and it will bring you prosperity and influence.

Also, if you haven’t yet figured out your purpose, following your passion will lead you directly to it. So, it doesn’t matter if God put in you a talent for growing premium coffee beans or for playing the violin; through it, He will bless you and make you a blessing and a source of inspiration to others.

A companion called Wisdom

While living your passion and purpose, you will encounter spiritual or physical obstacles and persecution, but it’s crucial that you never lack in zeal or throw in the towel. To overcome such times, it’s essential to have Godly wisdom.

With a life rich in wisdom, you will turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones to greatness. “When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.” – Proverbs 4:12 (NIV).

If you find yourself in a valley at any point, cast away all fear and doubt and walk boldly in faith. Let your passion speak to you and not your circumstances. And remember, your help comes from the Lord (Psalm 121:2). He who put the talent in you will provide you with all the resources you’ll need according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Look up and see the harvest!

When you have passion, you live a life totally different from the person without one. You will see opportunities where others do not, in the spiritual, physical, and even in the midst of problems.

Jesus said in John 4:34-35, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” Just like Jesus, when you have a passion for something, you will not say that the harvest is still four months away. You will see the harvest now!

So, don’t delay! Ignite your passion and keep the fire in your heart burning in service to God. Fervently pursue your purpose for your harvest is here. With zeal and perseverance, you will reap bountifully and achieve your destiny in life.
