As a believer, God has called you to a life that transcends the limitations of your physical senses and ability; He wants you to walk in the supernatural everyday—through faith.

In 2Cortithians 5:7 (NIV), Paul writes: “For we live by faith, not

by sight.” Also Romans 1:17 says, “The just shall live by faith.” But to function in this higher life, you must fully understand what faith is.

“and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me” – Genesis 22:16:18

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Faith is derived from the Hebrew word Pistis which means firm persuasion, belief, assurance, firm conviction, and faithfulness. Hebrews 11:1(AMP) defines faith broadly as “The assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].” Faith says, “What I cannot see, I can receive.”

Though we can’t see radio waves with our naked eyes, they exist and we use them today to communicate via cell phones and radios. How much more the spiritual? So,

though the symptoms of an illness are still being felt, it doesn’t stop you from declaring through faith, “I am healed,” or, “I am rich,” even though your account balance currently says otherwise. Why? Because your faith is in God, not in your circumstances.

Examples of faith in action

Elijah was a man of prayer and faith. During the three and a half year drought in Israel, he boldly said to King Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” As at the time he spoke these words, there was not one rain cloud in the sky; but after fervent prayer, sure enough, the heavens burst forth with rain. (1Kings 18:41-45).

The Centurion was also a man of great faith. With his servant seriously ill and on the verge of dying, he sought Jesus’ help. Jesus agreed to go with him but the Centurion did something remarkable. He replied saying, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” Jesus was amazed by his response and declared his faith the greatest in all of Israel. And of course, the servant received his healing at that very hour, without a physical touch from Christ. (Matthew 8:5-13).

The Centurion didn’t just believe in the healing power of Jesus, he also understood Jesus’ authority and keyed into it. His words of faith were the substance and evidence of what he hoped for—healing for his servant. Faith doesn’t just believe, it acts, whether by words or deeds. “Faith without works is dead.” (James 2:19-20).

Faith acts in Obedience

Obedience is an important component of faith. For God to honour your

faith and for you to receive His blessings you have to obey His commandments,

just as Abraham—the father of faith did.God knew that Isaac was very precious to Abraham but He told him to offer Isaac as a burnt offering, anyway. Abraham raised no questions but acted in obedience because he had complete faith in God. Not only did he pass the test, God also rewarded him handsomely (Genesis 22:16-18).During your walk of faith, you will face trials and persecutions, but stand firm and hold fast to God’s word— act your faith, and you will see results.

In summary

Faith is the complete trust in God and obedience to His word. The power of faith is based on God’s power and is hence limitless. Jesus assures us as believers that with

faith, we can move mountains and nothing shall be impossible to us (Matthew 17:20). So, take advantage of this today; change situations, defeat your adversaries, and recreate your world through faith!
